Here we are, five days in, and I’m still going strong, though today felt like a bit of a slog. I sat down this afternoon to get my writing done and it felt like it took forever just to write a thousand words. I managed to make my personal goal, though I didn’t surpass it nearly as much as I have been the last couple days. Today’s final word count was 1,769, and I’m just about done with chapter four.
My total NaNoWriMo word count at the end of Day 5 is 9,510. I still feel pretty good about what I’m writing, though I am still questioning the voice for my thirteen year old character. She’s been through some stuff, and that often hardens kids and matures them, but I find myself wondering how relative it will be to other thirteen year olds. Either way, I’m going to keep going, see where the story winds up when all is said and done.
Tomorrow night, I’m considering going to my very first write-in. Can you believe I’ve been doing NaNoWriMo for ten years and I’ve never been to a write-in? Social anxiety does that a person, but my favorite husband has to work, and I’ve got nothing more exciting to do yet, so I’m seriously considering it. I will keep you posted on what I decided, and if I go, I’ll write all about it on Thursday!
Hope you’re on the write track this NaNoWriMo season!
